On 1st June 2026, the BJP-led cabinet in West Bengal went through an expansion, with 35 MLAs all set to take oath as ministers, said Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. The Chief Minister said that Governor RN Ravi took the oath at 11 am at the Lok Bhavan.
On 2nd June, a full-fledged Council of Ministers of the nationalist government elected by the people of West Bengal will be constituted, the CM clarified in a social media post. The cabinet was expanded in West Bengal on 1st June, and 35 ministers took the oath. He also added that the Honorable Governor Shri RN Ravi administered the oath of office to the cabinet ministers. The oath-taking ceremony was held after CM Adhikari was sworn in as the chief minister in the presence of Union Minister Amit Shah, CMs of NDA-ruled states, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP legislators Agnimitra Paul, Kshudiram Tudu, Nisith Pramanik, and Ashok Kirtania swore in as ministers. After this cabinet expansion ceremony of 35 legislators into the council of ministers, the strength of the cabinet is 41.
