The CID has again opened the case related to large-scale deforestation in various Jharkhand districts during the COVID-19 outbreak. Two DSP-rank officers, along with an IPS officer, are involved in the investigation process of this matter. The investigation agency has again started re-examining evidence and old documents related to the case. All the accused and forest department officers are investigated thoroughly in this case.
Two accused are arrested so far, said the Senior CID officers, and two others are on bail. The officers are preparing to take legal action based on the evidence available. Hundreds of valuable trees were felled in Ranchi, Jamtara, Chaibasa, and Palamu districts. Trees were cut and shipped in 200 trucks, and FIRs were filed in different police station locations. This investigation was handed over to the CID.
Forest department officials were suspicious in this case, and CID has informed the court that Maharaj Singh and Ranger are arrested, and prosecution approval has been granted against Muhafiz Ansari. The High Court expressed disappointment over the delay in the investigation, and after that, the CID reopened the case file, and further investigation is going on and is in the final stage. CID also said that further action will be taken soon related to this deforestation scandal.
