India's biggest private sector bank, HDFC Bank, opts for a two-day-a-week work-from-home policy for its workforce in Corporate Enabling Functions and Business Enabling Functions for a month. This shift is due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's urge to Indian citizens and corporations to choose virtual conferences and meetings and work-from-home to reduce travel because of increasing crude oil costs. All customer-facing problems and HDFC Bank will continue to function normally.
Credit underwriting and risk, digital banking, treasury operations, and IT services include Business Enabling functions, while finance and accounts, compliance, and board functions are covered under Corporate Enabling Functions. Also, Axis and IndusInd Bank have opted for a hybrid work model for workers to come into the office.
