Tulsi Gabbard will be stepping down from her National Intelligence Director position from 30th June 2026 to support her husband dealing with a rare bone cancer.
She wrote a letter to Donald Trump that her husband is diagnosed with a rare bone cancer and at this point of time, I should step away from my designation to completely support my husband.
His love and support have sustained me through every difficulty and I cannot leave him alone to fight this battle.
She was among the multiple Indian-origin Republicans who worked in a high-profile role in Trump's administration. Trump said that we will miss her and she has done an incredible job as director of National Intelligence. He said that she and her husband have to fight this battle together but he will be back to good health. In her absence, principal Deputy Director, Aron Lukas, National Intelligence will serve as the acting Director of National Intelligence.
