The Honourable Supreme Court Gets Five New Judges Taking the Strength To 37

The Central Government has approved the names suggested by the SC Collegium, and the Honourable Supreme Court will get five new judges that would expand the apex court to 38. President has given the green signal to appoint four High Court Chief Justices and Senior Advocate V. Mohana as a Supreme Court judge under 124 (2) of the Constitution.
 
Chief Justice of the Haryana High Court, Justice Shree Chandrashekhar; Chief Justice of the high court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Senior Advocate Venkita Mohana; Chief Justice of the Bombay High court, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva; Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh high court, Justice Arun Palli; and Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of the Punjab
Under Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, this is the first set of appointments that assumed office in November 2025. Through the Supreme Court Amendment Ordinance, 2026, this judgment is taken.
