This year marks the 12th International Yoga Day, and India has announced that the theme for International Yoga Day 2026 is Yoga for Healthy Ageing, with the aim that every individual practices Yoga on a daily basis without the barrier of age. International Yoga Day 2026 was successfully celebrated in India and across the globe on 21st June. Ministry of Culture organized a special International Yoga Day event at 100 locations in the country that brought together India's rich yoga traditions and cultural heritage.
All India Institute of Ayurveda in New Delhi organized a Zumba and Yoga session. This event showed the importance of inculcating yoga in everyday life. Director of the Institute, Professor Pradeep Prajapati, said that Yoga should not be restricted to one day, but it should be practiced daily, including asanas that help manage lifestyle and metabolic issues.
The main national celebration was held at Kolkata's historic Red Road of the International Yoga Day under the leadership of PM Modi. With the efforts of the Ministry of Cultural Relations and Indian Missions abroad, Yoga Day was conducted at 2,500 locations across the globe, with participation from more than 210 Indian Missions that showcase the role of the Yoga movement for overall good well-being.
