After CEO Mark Zuckerberg sent layoff emails to 8000 employees, there is a fear of AI-driven job loss. This can be improved if companies focus on empowering employees rather than focusing on automation. There is a 10 percent job cut recently, and there will be job cuts in three phases across the globe by Meta. US employees are getting 16 weeks of severance plus two weeks for every year worked, along with COBRA health coverage. 6,000 roles are scrapped, and 7,000 employees are assigned to new AI roles.

Mark Zuckerberg says that the balance between personal super intelligence and AI-focused efficiency is important for humans to be more productive, which means more jobs. The focus should be on empowering more people and making people more productive, which would lead to more jobs.

Meta's AI Reboot Strategy

Mark Zuckerberg's strategy is to reboot the company, which has spent on AI-talent hiring and building the SuperIntelligence Lab that is less than a year old.  Also, Mark said that he expects more, and we will be doing even better.

The company clarified that cuts were necessary to run more efficiently and spend on AI investments. Meta is spending between $125 to $145 billion in 2026 for AI infrastructure and development, with the focus on model training, custom chips, and data centers for Meta Superintelligence Labs. Anthropic CEO has already warned that half of the entry-level white-collar jobs would disappear within five years.
