New Mexico court has ordered Meta to pay a penalty of $567 million. This was the second round of fines imposed, and in the first phase, $375 million was imposed in March under the COPPA Act.
According to the COPPA Act, kids should protect their online privacy, and personal details for kids under 13 years should not be asked for. According to Meta, $420 million will be spent on mental health treatment for kids, and the rest will be spent over the next five years on awareness and screening programs.
