Due to West Asia crises disrupting raw materials and fertilizer supply, the government may push 20 percent of the 2026-2027 budget. According to the official statement, the government has said that there is enough fertilizer supply. This is the second time that urea prices have increased globally, said the Additional Secretary in the fertiliser department. The prices of natural gas have also doubled while the cost of diammonium phosphate and urea remains the same. This Kharif season, the government plans to import 64 lakh tonnes of urea. 25 lakh tonnes is expected to arrive from May 2026.
Sharma said that we will receive the supply as most of the import comes from the State of Hormuz. The government is planning to float a tender of 4 lakh tonnes of triple superphosphate and 3 lakh tonnes of ammonium sulphate that would ensure enough supply for 2026 Kharif season.
