When the investigation into the NEET paper leak, which affected the careers of 23 lakh students, was conducted, the CBI arrested a professor of chemistry in Pune. PV Kulkarni is taken into custody, and the investigation agency said that he has leaked the NEET exam papers. Kulkarni is the eighth person arrested in the NEET exam leak case. The investigation agency said that he had access to the NEET question papers for the medical entrance exam and is involved in the National Testing Agency. A professor from Latur in Maharashtra has taught privately at Raj Coaching Classes, and in April, one such class was held before the NEET exam paper, during which he shared the questions and answers with the students whom the Kulkarni taught privately.
Also, the investigation agency has cross-checked the questions written in the student notebooks with the actual NEET question paper, and it has matched. This has helped CBI to identify the source of the NEET paper leak.
Also, across states, CBI is trying to identify the extent of the NEET question paper leak. CBI has also conducted raids at different locations. Electronic devices and smartphones are also seized and are now undergoing technical analysis. Department of Higher Education under the Education Ministry has filed the case, and so CBI is investigating the matter. A total of eight arrests have been made till now from Pune, Ahilyanagar, Jaipur, Gurugram, and Nashik. Five individuals have already been produced before a court and taken into custody for seven days.
