Ministry of External Affairs has decided to postpone the India-Africa Forum Summit due to an alert of an Ebola outbreak in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.
Union of India and the African Union were working closely on the convening of the India-Africa Forum Summit, exchanged their views on the health situation in parts of Africa, and reaffirmed the continued cooperation in public health preparedness through support of national institutions. India will support the Government of Africa and the People of Africa during these tough public emergency situations.
Two countries have agreed mutually to postpone the India-Africa Summit for later, and both countries reaffirm their strategic collaboration established on a commitment to peace, development, and prosperity.
Also, Indira Gandhi Airport will follow a protocol to examine passengers coming from Ebola outbreak countries, and the advisory has advised that if any passenger experiences fatigue, weakness, vomiting, or fever, headache, sore throat, or muscle pain, they should be taken to the Airport health desk for further examination.
Any passenger who had direct contact with a suspected or confirmed Ebola outbreak patient has been instructed to report to the health officials at the airport. Delhi airport has asked passengers coming from Ebola outbreak countries to follow the health safety and screening protocols.
