There were a total of 26 individuals in France with close contacts of hantavirus cases who tested negative. Also, the flights arrived from the cruise in the Netherlands have also confirmed negative test results for Hantavirus case. 26 individuals are kept in France in hospital isolation, of which 22 were close contacts with the Dutch woman who tested positive on the cruise. Currently, French doctors have kept four people under observation who were on the cruise, but the fifth one is admitted to a French hospital and has tested positive and is in a serious condition.
The Health Minister said in a Twitter post that all the individuals who tested positive for hantavirus have tested negative. 22 people were on a flight from Saint Helena to Johannesburg and then from Johannesburg to Amsterdam. The Dutch woman who tested positive for Hantavirus died in a South African hospital. For safety measures, all these 26 people will be tested for hantavirus three times per week, the Health Minister of France Said.
Three individuals have died because of hantavirus, and six are suffering, and one US passenger has tested negative but had symptoms before. Health officials said that there is a low risk of hantavirus spreading to the wider public. The EU said that it would share the details further among the 27 member states.
