India Crosses More Than 54 Per Cent Electricity Generation

India has crossed 300 gigawatts of installed non-fossil fuel-based electricity generation capacity, which is more than 60 percent of the target set for 2030. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy said that electricity generation has reached more than 54 percent. Solar energy is a growth engine with 165 gigawatts of installed capacity at present. In 2025-2026, 165 gigawatts of electricity capacity was generated, with 55.29 gigawatts generated during the year. The renewable energy capacity generation increased to 477 billion units in the year 2025-2026. India's clean energy commitment contributes to India's energy independence and economic resilience.
